Between 2007 and 2013, the European Union funded development & regeneration projects in Wales with grants totalling £2,010,234,808. Between 2014 and 2020, it gave approval for grants totalling a further £1,809,879,355.

As of November 2019, since 2007, EU-funded projects in Wales have:
• Created 48,770 jobs
• Funded or assisted 26,892 businesses
• Helped create 13,420 new businesses
• Supported 90,151 people into employment
• Helped people achieve 314,419 qualifications

Only EU member states are eligible to receive EU structural funding.

Deep Green
EU funds awarded: £12,639,879.
The world's first low-velocity tidal energy project, situated 8km off the coast of Holyhead. The objective is to learn from the established 0.5MW demonstration project and deliver a complete second-generation system with a Levelised Cost of Energy figure of £100 / MWh installed based on an 80MW array in Holyhead Deep.

Arbed Phase 2 Convergence
EU funds awarded: £28,770,860.
The Arbed programme is designed to deliver environmental, social and economic outcomes by reducing carbon emissions, reducing fuel poverty and boosting economic development and regeneration in Wales. The programme will fund domestic energy performance projects focussed on deprived communities in Wales' Strategic Regeneration Areas.

Genesis Cymru Wales 2 Convergence
EU funds awarded: £30,800,000.
The project will predominantly target economically inactive females, lone parents and individuals who also face additional disadvantages such as BMEs, NEETs. It will assist them to overcome a variety of barriers (including childcare, financial barriers to participation) by providing a package of easy to access client centred support including personal development and soft skills.

Metro Phase 2 – Treherbert line
EU funds awarded: £27,399,776.
Transforming the Valley Lines rail network to provide a faster and more frequent service for the Heads of the Valleys stations and a direct connection to Cardiff Bay. Stations will be modernised and infrastructure will be improved to double of the number of trains to the Heads of the Valleys stations.

Blaenau Gwent Learning Zone
EU funds awarded: £8,075,000.
Construction of an FE / tertiary college building in Ebbw Vale

ReACT III
EU funds awarded: £33,896,954.
This programme addresses the needs of people who have been made redundant, or are under notice of redundancy, through a series of measures designed to remove barriers to gaining new employment.

The Waterfront City
EU funds awarded: £20,163,969.
Physical regeneration of public realm in Swansea; property development fund and building enhancement programme.

Maesteg Phase Four
EU funds awarded: £1,787,304.
Public Realm Works. The area identified for phase four includes the market site, bus station and the Llynfi River corridor. The proposals focus on undertaking improvements to the outdoor market, creation of a multi-use public space and enhancing the pedestrian linkages to Maesteg Rail Station.

A465 Heads of the Valleys Dualling
EU funds awarded: £81,762,307.
Conversion of the A465 to dual carriageway between Tredegar and Brynmawr.
