In a cynical ploy to widen his listener base, Cahn Ingold Prelog invited likeminded sonic voyagers to remix a track from his archives. Van Appears was the first to answer the call, cooking up no fewer than 12 versions of the original track - a local secondary school fence being hit with a rubber mallet. It seemed a shame to choose just one for inclusion on a remix compilation, so the Exotic Spresm curatorial team decided to release the whole lot as a single cohesive journey through thrillingly varied terrain.

Van Appears has very generously waived his fee for this release, so any money raised from downloads will be donated to Hope House Hospice, a children's hospice serving north and mid Wales, Shropshire and Cheshire. www.hopehouse.org.uk

Track 11 created by playing the original through a computer's inbuilt speaker, while recording through the computer's inbuilt mic, in my living room. Then slowing the result, cutting it up and repeating.

Other tracks created by processing (heavily) the original recording with custom software. And a wee bit of Audacity.
